The job is opening the door and leaving the lock still working, so you are not paying for hardware on top of paying to get in.
Standard residential and commercial cylinders open non-destructively in the large majority of cases. So do most vehicles. Where a lock cannot be opened that way, and some high-security cylinders and failed mechanisms genuinely cannot, you are told before anything starts and the replacement hardware is quoted at the same time.

The door closed behind you
The most common version, and usually the quickest to resolve. Say whether it is a knob, a deadbolt, or both when you call.
The keys are inside and the door is deadbolted
A thrown deadbolt changes the approach and sometimes the price, so it is worth mentioning on the phone.
The key turns but nothing happens
That is usually a failed latch or a broken cam rather than the key, and it is a different job from a plain lockout.
A tenant, a cleaner, or a contractor is locked out
We can attend, but the identification requirement still applies, and it is the property owner or the person on the lease who has to authorise the work.
A commercial door has locked with the shop shut
Storefronts, panic hardware, and back-of-house doors are all handled, and we can rekey on the spot if a key has gone missing rather than been left inside.

Can you open my door without drilling it?
In most cases yes. Non-destructive entry is always the first approach. Some high-security cylinders and some mechanically failed locks cannot be opened that way, and when that is the situation you are told before we start rather than after.

If you are the tenant and can show the lease or identification with that address, yes. If you are not on the lease, we need the owner or the property manager to authorise it, which is the same rule that protects your home when someone else is standing at the door.
