Terms of service

Last updated 23 August 2026

These are the terms we work under. They are written to be read rather than to be impressive, and they say the same things a technician would tell you at your door.

Who these terms are with

These terms apply to work carried out by Hamilton Prime Locksmith Inc, based in Ancaster, Ontario, and to your use of https://hamiltonprimelocksmith.com. Booking work with us means these terms apply to that work.

Quotes and prices

You are given a price when you call, based on what you describe. That price is confirmed by the technician at your door before any work starts.

If the job turns out to be materially different from what was described, work stops and you are given a new price before anything continues. You may decline at that point, and where no work has been carried out, nothing is owed.

Prices quoted for after-hours work reflect the hour at which you call. Nothing is recalculated after the work is finished.

Identification and authorisation

Before opening any door, vehicle, or container, we require photo identification and evidence that you are entitled to access it. That may be a licence showing the address, a lease, an ownership document, an insurance slip, or a rental or lease agreement in your name.

We may refuse to carry out work where that evidence cannot be provided, or where we have reason to believe the person requesting it is not entitled to access. This applies to every customer without exception, and it is not negotiable regardless of urgency.

Where the property is rented or managed, work that changes access, such as rekeying or replacing a lock, requires the authorisation of the owner or property manager.

Non-destructive entry, and when it is not possible

We attempt non-destructive entry wherever the lock allows it, and that is always the first approach. Some high-security cylinders and some mechanically failed locks cannot be opened without damage.

Where that is the case, you are told before work begins and the cost of replacement hardware is quoted at the same time, so the decision is yours and is made in advance.

Access, and things outside our control

We give an estimated arrival window, not a guaranteed arrival time. Traffic, weather, and the job in front of yours can move it, and where that happens we would rather tell you than let you stand outside wondering.

We are not responsible for existing damage, wear, or defects in doors, frames, locks, or vehicles that we did not cause, including hardware that fails during ordinary operation because it was already at the end of its life.

Payment

Payment is due on completion of the work unless something different has been agreed in writing beforehand. The accepted payment methods for your job are confirmed when you call, before a technician is dispatched.

You receive an invoice or receipt for the work carried out.

Cancellation

You can cancel before a technician is dispatched at no cost. If a technician has already travelled to your address and the work is then cancelled for a reason that is not ours, a call-out charge may apply, and it will be the figure you were quoted rather than a new one.

Workmanship and parts

Parts we supply carry the manufacturer's warranty that comes with them. Our workmanship is warranted for the period stated on your invoice.

Parts supplied by you are fitted where they are suitable for the door or vehicle, but we cannot warrant a part we did not supply, and we will tell you that before fitting it rather than afterwards.

Limits

Our responsibility for any claim connected to a job is limited to the amount paid for that job, except where the law does not allow that limit. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law.

About this website

The content on this site, including drive times, service descriptions, and general guidance, is provided to help you decide whether to call us. It is not a substitute for a technician assessing your specific door, lock, or vehicle.

Drive times shown are typical estimates from our Ancaster base in normal traffic. They are not commitments, and the arrival window you are given on the phone is the one that counts.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it.
